"Initially, my wife and I hired Stephen and Sandra to design a solution to raise three large structural beams in the basement of our 1907 house. We liked their work so much that we decided to hire them again to draw up plans for a complete 750 sqft addition and basement. "FM Design+Build just finished remodeling my 45-year-old kitchen, which was depressing in its dark-stained cabinets, dingy floor tile, formica counter tops, low ceiling, and original appliances. It was completely gutted and then transformed into a room that seems much larger than is actually the case, with a higher ceiling and brilliant LED recessed lights, beech cabinets with natural finish, large handsome floor tiles laid in an appealing pattern, spectacular granite counter tops, and all new appliances. And this complete transformation took less than five weeks.

Physical and budgetary constraints did not allow the renovation to extend outside the overall area of the kitchen and adjacent pantry. Nevertheless, Sandra and Stephen produced some sound suggestions for improvement within these boundaries, which they pressed upon me with gentle persistence, and which I eventually adopted, to my complete satisfaction.

Stephen was remarkably organized and established a tight demolition and construction schedule which was maintained from beginning to end. Two of the sub-contractors cabinets and granite countertops were particularly outstanding, delivering well-fabricated products with perfect fit, and on time. Stephen laid the tile (which Sandra had picked out for me) in a staggered pattern, most skillfully. The combination of tile, countertops, and cabinets is arresting.

FM Design+Build's detailed proposal was, I felt, fairly priced, the plans and elevations well executed. Sandra and Stephen are honest, hard-working, and completely trustworthy, and a pleasure to work with. I particularly appreciated how, at the end of a long day, the work area was cleaned as well as possible. Dust in such an undertaking is inevitable, but Stephen took great care in keeping it to a minimum. At the end, I told Sandra and Stephen that it looked better than I imagined and was much less of an ordeal than I feared. I would unhesitatingly recommend FM Design+Build for any remodeling or new construction project you might be considering."
